2003 promovierte er an der Universität Wien.

2000 ? 2005 war er am Ludwig Boltzmann Institut für Humanethologie, Wien.

Seit 2008 ist er Leiter der Emmy Noether Gruppe 'Evolutionäre Psychologie' an der Universität Göttingen.

Seit 2013 Heisenberg-Stipendiat der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft.
